Short Video Design Principles

In traditional social media, users are merely spectators when they watch short videos. They become subjects trained and controlled by the platform's recommendation algorithm, fully governed by it.

On traditional platforms, users generally take on two roles:

Users are just spectators. Influencers feed them information, trying every possible way to capture their attention and push their viewpoints. Eventually, users become followers of these influencers, which is a key issue in traditional social media.

Users serve as trainers of the platform’s recommendation algorithm and are controlled by it. Every click trains the algorithm to deliver more precise recommendations, ultimately shaping users' thoughts and consciousness. This is why users easily become addicted to scrolling short videos, as their thoughts and behavior are being manipulated by these algorithms.

However, on Socrates, users play a different role. While watching short videos, they can rate them, transitioning from mere spectators to judges. They can evaluate and comment on every video they see, marking a significant shift in user engagement.

Based on the ratings leaderboard, we offer airdrop incentives. Top-quality content creators will receive airdrops, and their videos will gain more exposure and recommendation opportunities. While our platform will still make recommendations based on user preferences, it will not be the sole focus. This outlines the design principles of our short video rating system.
