# Username Policy

#### 1. Introduction and Scope

1.1 The Username Policy establishes the rules for creating, using, and minting usernames on the Socrates platform, ensuring a safe, respectful, and secure environment for all users. This policy governs all usernames, including those minted as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), and outlines the platform’s authority to manage these names.

1.2 This policy applies to all users of Socrates and governs the selection, use, transfer of usernames, and situation when it is taken off the platform, including their transformation into NFTs. It is intended to safeguard the platform from abuse, protect intellectual property, and ensure compliance with applicable laws.

#### 2. General Guidelines for Username Creation

2.1 Usernames must not be exceed 15 characters in length and can contain letters and underscores. Usernames may not contain spaces or punctuation marks other than what is allowed. No usernames that consist solely of numbers or special characters.

2.2 Upon selecting a unique username, users have the option to mint it as an NFT, locking the username’s ownership on a blockchain (“Ethereum blockchain”). Minted usernames cannot be duplicated, ensuring exclusivity. Once minted, the username becomes the user’s digital asset, transferable and tradable according to the conditions outlined in this policy.

#### 3. Username Ownership and Minting

3.1 Username Minting as an NFT

3.1.1 Once a username is minted as an NFT, the user gains ownership and exclusive right of use on the platform over that username (determined by the number of years purchased by the user）. This ownership is decentralised and recorded on the blockchain, granting the user unique rights to their username on the Socrates platform. \
3.1.2 The minted username NFT allows the user to exercise control over its use, including the ability to display, use, sell, or transfer ownership, subject to platform policies and intellectual property laws. \
3.1.3 Users must mint their username NFT using assigned wallet to ensure proper ownership tracking on the platform.

3.2 Username NFTs off the Platform\

3.2.1 The platform reserves the right to block certain usernames after expiration or revocation if deemed necessary for compliance, security, or other strategic reasons.

4.2 Socrates does not set the value of usernames that are minted as NFTs and traded on secondary markets. Users are responsible for understanding the speculative nature of the NFT market. The platform is not liable for market fluctuations, gains, or losses associated with username NFTs.

4.3 Users may not create usernames that infringe registered trademarks, brand names, or other intellectual property without authorisation. If a username infringes on a registered trademark, the rightful owner may request its removal.

4.4 Usernames minted as NFTs may not be used for unauthorized commercial purposes, such as promoting counterfeit goods, fraudulent services, or violating intellectual property laws. Any commercial use that violates this policy may result in the suspension or revocation of the username.
