# From Work to Thought: The Cognitive Mining Paradigm

In Bitcoin, value is created through energy expenditure and computational competition. In the Socrates Protocol, we replace that model with a form of "Proof of Thought."

> "Any action capable of influencing belief is a form of work."

Actions such as betting, initiating predictions, expressing viewpoints, or being cited are considered cognitive contributions to the network. These actions are evaluated and weighted to form a user's "Behavioral Hashrate," which determines their share of the daily SOC mining distribution.

SOC is neither airdropped nor pre-mined; it is entirely generated through acts of thought and expression. This represents an ontological upgrade to the concept of "work" in traditional crypto-economics.

Behavior becomes the mining rig, thought becomes the energy, and expression becomes the economic act.
